Entrepreneurship in Iceland
This course covers practical aspects of entrepreneurship, such as business planning, Iceland's support environment for startups, and methods for moving from idea to sustainable operation.
Drawing on case studies, interactive workshops, and guest contributions from experts, students gain valuable insight into the Icelandic entrepreneurial environment and learn to tackle the challenges of launching and scaling a company. The course also covers effective presentation and communication techniques, helping students convey their ideas with confidence.
The course is designed for those who want to apply their knowledge of entrepreneurship in the labor market and gain the confidence to participate in Iceland's innovation environment — to be able to grow and sustain their business, and to critically evaluate their own business plan and assess its feasibility.
Who it's for, tuition fee, applications, prerequisites, and credits
The course is for those who want to strengthen their skills in entrepreneurship, innovation, and evaluating the feasibility of business plans.
A matriculation examination (stúdentspróf) or equivalent education is required, e.g. from Bifröst University's Háskólagátt (University Gateway).
The course provides 6 ECTS credits at the undergraduate level.
Format
The course is taught as periodic distance learning. It runs for seven weeks, and students attend one workshop in the West Iceland region. Instruction begins on October 19, 2026 and runs until November 29, 2026. One four-hour workshop will be held during the period November 13–15, with the exact timing announced during the course. Assessment takes place from November 30 to December 8.
