The Music Industry: Digital marketing and Brand Strategy
This course explores how digital strategies shape visibility, audience engagement, and career growth in the modern music industry. Students will learn how to develop artist brands, grow fan communities, and design content that resonates within the online ecosystem.
The course is led by a working music marketing strategist and campaign lead for global artist YUNGBLUD, ensuring students gain practical insights grounded in current industry practice.
Through a mix of seminars, guided workshops, and project-based learning, students will apply digital marketing tools to real-world scenarios. Emphasis is placed on strategic thinking, creative execution, and data-informed decision-making, preparing participants to confidently design and implement marketing strategies for their own creative or professional projects.
Who it's for, tuition fee, applications, prerequisites, and credits
The course is for those who want to strengthen their skills in planning and designing marketing strategies aligned with specific artistic goals and brand positioning. Creating and executing short-form digital content tailored to specific platforms and building and maintaining an online artist brand and community presence.
A matriculation examination (stúdentspróf) or equivalent education is required, e.g. from Bifröst University's Háskólagátt (University Gateway).
The course provides 2 ECTS credits at the undergraduate level.
The course is also a part of a micro-credential/degree in Music Business
Format
The course is taught as periodic distance learning. Instruction begins on February 8, 2027 and runs until February 19, 2027.
