Dr. Francesco Macheda promoted to the position of Associate Professor and awarded a research grant
The advanced committee of Bifrost University has promoted Dr. Francesco Macheda to the position of Associate Professor (Dósent). This decision is in line with the recommendation by the Department of Science and Innovation at the University of Iceland and an external evaluation committee chaired by Prof. Ólafur Þórður Harðarson (University of Iceland).

Equality Days 2020
Equality days, which are held by all the universities in Iceland, will be held on February 3 - 7, and related events will be held in all schools. Gender equality days combine the various dimensions of equality and feminism and explore diversity, privilege, silence, the struggle for equality, power and discrimination. Emphasis is placed on the opportunities created by putting ideas of the norm - the "normal" - and the subordinate under the microscope.

Bifröst University establishes cooperation with the University of Jinan in China and works toward empowering the Icelandic Research Center
On November 7 and 8, a delegation headed by the Rector of Bifröst University, Dr. Vilhjálmur Egilsson, accompanied by Dr. Francesco Macheda, visited the University of Jinan in China. Eiríkur Bergmann and Heather McRobie attend a conference on constitution making in Glasgow
Two faculty members of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, Professor Eirikur Bergmann and Associate Professor Heather McRobie, attended a conference on 'Constitution-making and deliberative democracy', funded by COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology), at the University of Glasgow on the 24th-25th October. Participants engaged in a wide ranging discussion on how constitution drafting processes can and should be as inclusive as possible.

Francesco Macheda presents hil latest work in China
Francesco Macheda, Assistant Professor in Political Economy at Bifröst University, will present his latest work at the prestigious Institute of World Economics and Politics (IWEP) at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing on the 31st of October. The aim of his research, titled “Chinese Road to Autocentric Development in the Light of Samir Amin’s Theory of Unequal Exchange”, co-authored with his Italian colleague Roberto Nadalini, is to investigate the use of methods of strategic and short-term planning by the Chinese authorities, which have allowed the country to challenge the relations of dependency historically imposed on the global periphery.

The fourth managerial meeting of DT.Uni hosted at Bifröst
Last September, Bifröst University hosted the fourth managerial meeting for the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership Project, DT.Uni. Project participants are seven European universities and the aim of the consortium is to integrate the methods of Design Thinking into the workings of today‘s university, with focus on three groups of stakeholders; namely students, academic staff and managerial staff.
