Call for Papers: Nordic Symposium on Tourism and Hospitality Research

A call for papers has been issued for the 34th Nordic Symposium on Tourism and Hospitality Research, which will take place in Reykjavík from 6–8 October 2026. This year’s conference theme is “Tourism in a Changing World: An Active Agent for Good?”, focusing on how tourism can respond to climate change, societal challenges and rapid global transformations.

Among the sessions featured at the conference is Session 22: “Heritage Ecologies – Creative Entrepreneurship for Regenerative Rural Futures”, organised by Anna Hildur Hildibrandsdóttir, Programme Director of Creative Industries at Bifröst University and a doctoral candidate in Geography at the University of Galway, in collaboration with Professor Katrín Anna Lund at the University of Iceland.

The session explores how cultural heritage, creative entrepreneurship and tourism can contribute to sustainable and regenerative development in rural areas, and how new approaches can shed light on the relationships between culture, nature and local communities.
