Bifröst University is a partner in the Erasmus+ project iFEMPOWER: Interactive and mentorship based FEMale emPOWERment in the field of entrepreneurship. The project was awarded funding from Erasmus+ KA203 Program, Strategic Partnerships for higher education. Joining the consortium on behalf of Bifröst University are director Hulda Ingibjörg Rafnarsdóttir, lecturer Jón Snorri Snorrason and lecturer Kári Joensen.

In addition to Bifröst University, the consortium is comprised of the following universities and organizations:: HÉTFA (Project Coordinator, Hungary), Andalucía Emprende (Spain), Oneco Consulting S.L. (Spain), Sociedade Portuguesa de Inovaçao (Portugal), Steinbeis GmbH & Co.KG für Technologietransfer (Germany), Corvinus University of Budapest (Hungary), Sigmund Freud Privatuniversität Wien (Austria) and Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania (Romania). Associated partners are the following: Lean in Femspace (Austria), PONT Group (Romania), The Icelandic Directorate of Labour (Iceland).

The overall objective of iFEMPOWER is to increase the number of women who engage in entrepreneurial activities and eventually launch their own successful enterprises. Based on a comprehensive analysis of needs and obstacles faced by female entrepreneurs, the consortium will develop a curricula and teaching material for a module that can be adopted by students from a broad range of disciplines. The module will focus on strengthening a range of competences, such as entrepreneurial mindset, creative thinking, presentation and communication through problem-based learning. Furthermore, the topic of work-life balance for entrepreneurs will be addressed. During the project period, the curricula will be implemented within the four universities of the consortium, Bifröst University (Iceland), Corvinus University of Budapest (Hungary), Sigmund Freud Privatuniversität Wien (Austria) and Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania (Romania). It will subsequently be made available as an Open Educational Resource (OER) along with teaching materials and handbooks.

The project will run for three years and started with a kick-off meeting of all partners in Vienna, Austria on the 13th of September 2018.
