ML / MBL in Business Law

ML / MBL in Business Law is a programme designed for managers and CEOs and other individuals willing to strengthen their skills in terms of the legal environment of the labour market (public / private). It’s established as a 120 ECTS distance learning programme, suitable for individuals who are already establishing their careers in the job market. The programme offers two routes of study:

  • ML – 120 ECTS programme, where students finish 30 ECTS master’s thesis
  • MBL – 90 ECTS programme, only coursework and no final thesis

Students who wish to apply for doctoral studies in law must finish the ML-degree, whereas MBL does not grant access to doctoral programmes. Furthermore, the ML-programme enables students to proceed with careers within the Icelandic jury system.

Admission requirements are final examination from level 2 or equivalent. First class grade is usually required in evaluating applications. The program is taught only in Icelandic and is applied mainly to the Icelandic jury system. Students who do not hold a bachelor’s degree in law, can apply and take an extra 10 ECTS preparatory course in Law and legal methods.

Bifrost University has been an active partner in Law Without Walls from 2013. The project is a part-virtual collaboration that aims for students to develop the skills necessary to provide effective legal services in today’s marketplace. LawWithoutWalls teams up students from several law and business schools around the world with academic, lawyer, and entrepreneur mentors to develop business plans that tackle the main problems facing legal education and practice today. It centres on the intersection of law, business, technology, and innovation.  It is designed to embrace and meet the challenges of the economic pressures, technological advances, and globalization that have reshaped the legal market.
