Diploma in Public Administration

Diploma in Public Administration is a collaborative project between Bifröst University and Starfsmennt, The Educational Training Centre for Public Employees. This study programme is 60 ECTS on undergraduate level and is based on three fields in public administration; law, political science and business management and is ideal for individuals who aim at working for public institutions and in the political sector.

The programme aims at introducing public administrative law; how the political sector and receive practical training in terms of various skills that they can use when working for public institutions (state / municipalities). Furthermore, the programme includes courses in information law, constitutional law, privacy law and courses in management, human resource management, project management, political science and ethics.

Gifted students, or students who have completed a part of a degree elsewhere, may finish the programme in two years. Students can only be admitted to the programme if they have finished the Icelandic matriculation examination (stúdentspróf) or have an equivalent educational background.

Diploma in public administration is offered as a distance-learning programme and is only taught in Icelandic. Students who have completed the diploma can continue and finish BA in public administration (available from autumn 2019).
