New students of Bifröst University (including exchange students) need to register their computer to access the campus wireless network (Nemendur).
Note: You do not need to be on campus (or even in Iceland) to register your computer. If you prefer to register before arriving at Bifröst, skip step 1.
Connect to the campus wireless network called Gestir. Gestir is an open network for basic browsing only and does not require any username or password. Please do not save this network in your computer.
Go to the registration webpage (in Icelandic). To sign in, fill in your Bifröst University username (notandanafn) and password (lykilorð), then click the button labelled Innskrá.
Once signed in, click the link called Skráning Mac addressu. On this page, you should see the physical address (MAC address) of your computer in the upper window. If the physical address does not automatically appear, you will have to type it in manually (see here for instructions for finding the physical address). Each network adapter has its own physical address, so you will have to register wireless and Local Area Network adapters separately.
To complete registration, click the Skrá tölvu button. If you get an error message, hit F5 on your keyboard to refresh.
The registration will be active after the next hour mark. You can now disconnect from the wireless network Gestir and connect to the wireless network Nemendur.
If you require additional assistance, send a help request via the IT help page with a short description of the problem.
