If something is damaged/broken etc.  when you move in please send a maintainance request within 24 hours. If the cleaning is not good enough we need to check the apartment, please send an email then to halldora@bifrost.is within 24 hours.

Checklist for cleaning Student Housing Authority rooms and apartments before leaving

The following must be cleaned:

-         Cabinets, both inside and outside, including the cabinet door and on top

          of the cabinet.

-         Drawers, inside and outside.

-         Stains on walls and moldings (pay particular attention to behind and

           under desks)

-         Venetian blinds and around windows (look for fly droppings).

-         Windows and window panes.

-         Smoke detectors.

-         Lights (look for dead flies and fly droppings).

-         Doors, both inside and outside.

-         Pictures on the wall.

-         Vacuum any rugs.

-         Clean the toilet, sink, mirrors and showers.

-         (check for silicate buildup in the sink, shower and thermostatic mixer).

-         Shower curtain (note that this may be washed by machine at 60°).

-         Thaw the freezer if necessary. Throw out old food.

-         Clean the refrigerator, throw out old food.

-         Clean cooking burners and oven well.

-         Wash the mattress covers and put them on the beds again.

Students will be charged 3000 kr. if the mattress covers are missing when the apartment is inspected. If a trashbin is missing renter will be charged kr. 1000.

If rented furniture or kitchen ware is missing or broken renter will be charged according to market price. If linen or towels are missing  or destroyed after study weekends the one responsible for the room will be charged for kr. 2000.

Tenants are required, according to the rental agreement, to take part in general cleanup of the grounds at least twice per year.

And particularly for those in Bolla- og Vallakot, Miðgarður, Ásgarður, Útgarður, Skakki og Vist:

According to the rental agreement, tenants are to clean all common areas regularly, and tenants can demand common general cleaning at least twice a year, or more often if one or more tenants move out of the house. This also applies to the grounds.

(A special reminder about storage areas, the top of kitchen cabinets, refrigerators, freezers, cooking burners, ovens, fans, as well as cigarette butts and trash in and next to common areas).

Resignation

Please send an email with your resignation to halldora@bifrost.is. Please send your name, apartment, apartment number and date of departure. According to rental agreement resignation is one month starting from 1st each month. For example if you send your resignation in the middle of November you pay for December.

Note!

Rooms or apartments are not considered to have been vacated until a cleaning inspection has taken place, and this also includes common areas when applicable.

Tenants get 1-2 days to move between apartments for individuals and 3-4 days between family apartments.
