For students to be able to use VPN links at the University of Bifröst, the Network Administrator needs to provide authorisation on the network server. The programme below will only set up the link in the user’s computer. NOTE In order to hook up using the link, the Network Administrator must first have provided access.
Students who need access to databases when they are off campus should request off-campus access from the Network Administrator at  netstjori@bifrost.is

to access a programme that will automatically install a VPN link in students’ Windows XP computers, and here

to access the corresponding programme for Windows Vista.
The programmes are compressed and need to be uncompressed (e.g. using winrar) and then installed by running the nemXP.exe or nemVista.exe file in the folder; access will be granted automatically. When the Network Administrator has granted access, double-click the link icon, enter a user name and password (no need to enter the domain) and this should bring up a confirmation of the link to the VPN network server.
Students who already have a VPN link are asked to delete it from their computers and install this link instead.
