The MA programme in cultural management is a combined on-site and
distance learning programme. Qualified candidates must have completed
a cycle 1 university degree (BA or BS). In exceptional cases other
degrees or experience can be evaluated as equivalent to such a degree.
Full time students are expected to commence their studies in the
summer term which is held at Bifröst from the middle of July until the
end of August. During the fall and spring terms students continue in
Bifröst's distance learning system and complete their coursework
during a second 6 week session at Bifröst the following summer. A
vital part of the program is the MA thesis which students usually
write in the fall and spring terms after the completion of their
coursework.
The programme is designed to provide training in research, planning
and management within the cultural sector, including both education
and creative industries.
Students complete 90 ECTS credits in the programme. The MA thesis
weighs 30 ECTS credits. The programme is taught in Icelandic.
