Sustainable Business
In September 2009 a new course on Sustainable Business will be available at Bifröst University as a part of the B.Sc. program in Business Administration.
The idea of sustainable business has gained importance in the globalised world in recent years and there has been a particular emphasis on green business with sustainable uses of energy and natural resources. Less emphasis has been on the social and cultural responsibilities of companies and in an Icelandic context there has been a lack of appropriate measures to secure the sustainability of the economy as a whole.
The Sustainable Business course will offer students introduction into the different discourses concerning sustainability, corporate responsibility, environmental considerations and responsible market behaviour. The course also puts into context the ethical role of managers and individual responsibilities will be discussed from the perspective of critical management theories.
Students will work on actual cases in groups, as well as through individual assignments. The course language is English. For further information please click here.
