University Concert - Gunnar Thordarson
Gunnar Thordarson plays his own music at Kaffi Bifröst Wednesday April 29th.
The concert starts at 17:00. Everyone is welcome, free entrance.
Gunnar is one of Iceland´s best known musicians.
Gunnar was a member of the band Hljómar, that enjoyed enormous popularity In the country in 1964-1969. In 1969 he formed the group Trúbrot along with some members from Hljómar and another group called Flowers.
He stayed with that group until 1973, when he began working as a record producer.
He has written over 500 songs that have been recorded, composed music for 3 Icelandic films, Agnes, Ódal fedranna, and Reykjavík, Reykjavík. He has also written music for television dramas, Steinbarn , Djákninn frá Myrká and written music for the theatre, including music for two musicals.
He has produced over 150 records, arranged hundreds of songs for recording. He has written a Mass, Heilaga messa, in 2000, and written pieces for The Icelandic Symphony Orchestra.
He has recieved the order of the Falcon from the President of Iceland for his contribution to Icelandic music.
